Artist Statement:

Christine Raymond is an impressionistic oil painter whose work merges the emotional resonance of expressionism with the observational depth of plein air painting. With more than three decades in the art world and over 17 years as a professional artist, she brings dedication, intuition, and a profound love of nature to every canvas.

Rooted in her passion for the outdoors, Christine’s creative process is deeply tied to her experiences hiking and painting on location. She finds inspiration in the natural world, describing her approach as, “creating the painting that I see within the scene.” Her paintings are not just depictions of the landscape, but interpretations—vivid, expressive responses to light, atmosphere, and a spiritual connection to the land.

Working primarily in oils, Christine’s style is defined by a confident use of color, lively brushwork, and palette knife textures that convey movement and mood. Her work celebrates what she sees as the divine beauty of creation, and each painting becomes a personal reflection of gratitude and awe.

Christine’s dedication to her craft has earned her recognition in numerous exhibitions and plein air competitions, including “Best Nocturne” at Plein Air at the Arboretum (2024), Best in Show at *Light and Shadow: The Essential Elements* (Artists in Middleburg, 2024), 3rd Place at *Paint Great Falls* (2023), and People’s Choice at *Paint! Manassas* (2019).

Her artistic journey began at a young age under the guidance of her mother, a professional artist, whose influence shaped Christine’s early love for drawing and painting. After graduating with art honors in high school, she went on to earn a Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in 2019, with a focus on Painting and Drawing.

Christine continues to expand her artistic vision by exploring new subjects, techniques, and exhibitions. Her work invites viewers to experience the landscape not just as a visual subject, but as a place of emotion, memory, and spiritual resonance.
